Privacy policy

Who runs this site

Waseem Issa, a freelance software engineer based in Lebanon. I decide how the data described here is used. For any question or request about your data, email contact@waseemissa.com.

What I collect and why

Only what you give me, or what the site needs to work:

• Contact form: your name, email, optional phone number and message. It arrives in my inbox as an email, so I can reply.
• Booking a call, on the contact page or through Wi (the AI assistant on the home page): your name, email, optional phone number and note, the time you picked and the topic you asked about. It becomes an event in my Google Calendar with a Google Meet link; Google sends you the invitation, and you get a confirmation email with links to reschedule or cancel.
• Chat with Wi, the AI assistant on the home page: your messages are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to write the replies. The site doesn’t save the conversation: it’s gone when you close the page. Please don’t share anything sensitive in it.
• Spam and abuse protection: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is sending the form or chat. The server briefly logs requests, including IP addresses, to limit how often each one can send.
• Analytics: which pages are visited, explained below.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses Google Analytics, and asks before it sets any cookie. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage, so you aren’t asked on every page.

If you accept: Google Analytics sets its cookies (_ga and _ga_…) and records the pages you view, clicks on the email, phone and WhatsApp links, and the steps of a booking. Advertising features and Google signals are off, and nothing you type is ever sent.

If you decline, or haven’t chosen yet: your visit is counted once, with no cookies, under a random ID that is only kept in memory. Nothing you do after that is recorded.

You can change your choice at any time. Declining also removes the Google Analytics cookies.

Who receives your data

I use these services to run the site. Each one handles your data only to provide its service, and some are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country.

• Vercel: hosts the site and its server logs.
• Resend: delivers the contact and booking emails.
• Google: Calendar and Meet for calls, and Analytics.
• Anthropic: the Claude API behind Wi, the AI assistant.
• Cloudflare: the Turnstile check.

How long it’s kept

• Messages and bookings: in my inbox and calendar for as long as we’re in touch or working together, then deleted when they’re no longer needed. You can ask me to delete them sooner.
• Chats with Wi: not stored by the site. Anthropic keeps API data only for a limited time under its own policy, and doesn’t use it to train its models.
• Analytics: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months.
• Server logs: kept briefly by the host for security.

Your rights

You can ask me what I hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Email contact@waseemissa.com and I’ll reply within 30 days. You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time from the cookie settings.

Children

This site isn’t meant for children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If what the site collects changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
